Cabinets and Island

I think we are tending for an open space in the pantry on the lower level to store recycling bins

If we can select the compost container first-such as an appropriate steam table pan...then this should not be too difficult to build. We don't want either the compost or trash containers to be too big--so they need to be emptied before they begin to really smell.

We are thinking that a cubby on one of the ends of the island will work well for us instead of a drawer

I (rob) really like the stainless counter tops as a landing spot next to the stove--I also like the somewhat commercial kitchen look--just don't want it to be too cold/commercial

The shelving at the end of the island that allows for extra storage and creates a nook feel for the seating. In our island the shelving would face out the end

This is nice but not neccessary--and does not account for how messy this stuff can be--pull out drawers with containers or just containers to store on open shelves in the pantry
