“Darek Janczy of DJ Construction recently completed a comprehensive remodel of my 2,433 sqft house in Pacific Grove. The project included replacing all windows, flooring, and doors; removing 1970’s “popcorn” ceilings; installing overhead LED lighting in all rooms; expanding the outdoor deck; knocking down old walls and building new ones; reconfiguring the front entry; replacing all fixtures; repainting the exterior and interior; strengthening the foundation; and creating a stunning new open kitchen with a 10-foot island. Darek’s skill in all aspects of construction is evident everywhere in my house, as are his thoughtfulness and attention to detail. In addition, he possesses such positive qualities as honesty, integrity, and reliability. “Manny Lopez and his team of professionals completed a full remodel of the landscaping projects we desired around our home last year. All of the work was top quality and done to our satisfaction. He coordinated his team's work with other contractors installing solar, and a large swim spa, as well as a complex deck. There were no disagreements with other workmen on the projects, and the advance planning allowed for the use of heavy machinery where needed, concrete deliveries, and other materials for all the other projects. Regarding ideas we had for the way we wanted the final project to look, Manny provided timely ideas, excellent solutions that were cost effective or even saved money, and he always came in on time. He kept us appraised of the project progress, items that need to be adjusted, and included changes we asked for as the project went along. He came in on budget. My wife and I have built homes before, renovated apartment properties, improved commercial and condo projects, so we have worked with many contractors over the years. Manny is the best.”

“My wife and I reside in La Selva Beach and decided to major remodel our master bathroom from mundane to elegant. As an owner builder, I had built 3 homes in the Santa Cruz area on my own, however at this time in our lives, we wanted someone else to do the job correctly. I have two brother in laws who are retired general contractors and they were not keen on going back to work for us. We were fortunate to have had Robert Silva introduced to us, and he made magic happen. With our input, he showed us many designs, hardware, fixture, and tile options and took our wishes to design the new bathroom for us. Robert gave us a very strait forward estimate of the costs for demolition, framing, sheetrock, tile work, plumbing, glass, painting, and all material costs. We stayed within budget without any difficulties. One of the things that impressed us was that Robert was on the job swinging his own hammer for much of the project and all of his subcontractors were skilled professionals. The worksite was cleaned up everyday after they completed their day’s labor and we were able to use our bathroom facilities throughout the entire project (except when they were actively working on it). Of course we did solicit competitive bids from other reputable Santa Cruz contractors, however Robert’s numbers clearly won the bidding. We were extremely pleased with his honesty, work ethic and of course the finished product that gave us our beautiful new bathroom. Without question we feel it appropriate to give ProBuilt Constuction 5 stars.”

“We used Cate Construction for a major renovation of a 2,500 sq.ft house, including adding additional footage for a new entry area. Cate Construction did an excellent job in communicating on all aspects of the project, keeping us informed on the timing of each phase and the costs associated with all of the subcontractors. Cate has the experience to select qualified subcontractors. We were satisfied with the work of every subcontractor. The project finished on schedule and very close to being on budget. We were perplexed on how to address a complicated flooring situation and Cate Construction came up with a clever solution. There were very few lingering "punch list" items but Cate Construction has promptly fixed every one of them. Overall the renovation project was a very positive experience.”

John has a great crew in each arena of work. Quality workmanship. Reliable, crews were here every weekday, no days off. Very honest! Easy to work with... John is a wonderful resource in that once he had an idea of what I wanted he was able to take me to the different places, for example, floor tiles, and he helped me pick out what I wanted. Good follow-up too. I would not hire anyone else for construction!”
