Designer Shares Style Details That Enhance a Client’s Home
In this episode of Houzz TV Live, interior designer Mindy Laven of Mindy Laven Home talks about the design decisions she made to create vintage modern style for a client’s home in Anaheim, California. Laven highlights the key details she incorporated to enhance the living room, kitchen, dining nook, kids’ lounge, master bathroom and bedroom and the home office.
In the living room, reclaimed wood ceiling beams and hand-painted terra cotta tile on the fireplace give the space a custom look. In the kitchen, Laven painted the island blue, added brass hardware and designed a new range hood. A new industrial faucet complements a stylish black stainless steel refrigerator.
Laven offers advice on how to put together a cohesive decor scheme in a living room (hint: start with the rug), why cabinet hardware is like jewelry for a kitchen and how a canopy bed can accentuate ceiling height in a bedroom. She also selected furniture and decor products to help you create a similar design style at home.
Loved it! I appreciated how she explained the process, and I loved her comment on invoking a feeling, not a style.
So well done. Loved hearing Mindy's thinking behind the choices. Where was the office light fixture purchased and it's brand? Thanks in advance.
That was awesome and fun to see what her process was!
This house is beautiful and I really like the different fabrics and mix of styles. It’s helpful to hear her thinking process and gives me inspiration for my own home.
Beautiful home. Love how she used the reclaimed wood beams and tied everything together. Kitchen is exquisite with light fixtures, brass handles and blue island. Also like idea of chAnging out hood. Would love to have an interior designer update my home.
Love to know where to find all those rugs. Beautiful design.
I love the tile on the fireplace! Can you provide supplier's name?
Everything about this space is beautiful and I loved the use of the color blue throughout.
I really like the feeling and style of the home. It's definitely cozy!
Loved the home, would be curious about the rug in the master bath.
love the kid playroom♡
I liked this video so much. Love her style!
Love the vibe ❤️ great work
Amazing creativity. I love organic, family oriented interior design. Hopefully, me and my wife will be able to achieve this style.
I love the style and color scheme. Rooms still feel airy but with a twist of interest with the vintage pieces. Beautiful!
Really loved the natural fabrics, shades, pillows! So creative the way she tied it all together. I especially liked the black and gold chest in the corner of the study. Where can I find one? Thank you.
