Yes ma'am...pretty much that's what it is. There was a box frame made for the ventilation insert. Over the box is reclaimed wood from a local vendor in Nashville who is a purveyor of sorts of reclaimed barn wood. We communicated our plan to the cabinet supplier so they could make sure it would work with the cabinets. I'm more the idea person on this. The builder has a great trimming team with some very skilled folks that helped me bring this to fruition. One note though, is when you're selected old wood, go for character but also make sure to select boards that are as straight as possible. Warped boards could cause you problems with getting cabinet doors open and make it feel thrown together.

Thanks for your question. You can purchase a vent blower that does not have a finished hood and then finish it in almost any material you choose. Ask about this style at your local appliance center or search online for more details.
