See how well Ochre it goes with teal? It's earthy and traditional and modern and fresh.

The mudroom's built-in fir cubbies and extra-tall five-panel storage cabinets work hard for the entire family.

Mafi Nero Coral Oak Vulcano

Q

by Vanessa Brunner Mafi Nero Coral Oak Vulcano [ Visit Store » ] "Walk on art" with Mafi floorings unique avant-garde flooring style. While the brand has numerous styles and treatments, this specific Coral Oak Vulcano flooring is a personal favorite of mine. Like all of the wood used in Mafi flooring, it is built in a three layer construction and treated with natural oil. However this particular style is enhanced with artistically integrated and treated cracks. It comes in several different woods with various color options for the cracks — including gold and yellow. It really draws the eye to the floor in a unique way, without taking away from the natural beauty of the wood.

It's not always possible or necessary to store every pair of shoes in one place. To keep the shoes of the day off the floor, a simple shelf like this one is a nice solution.

A play of scale makes this vignette successful. We are accustomed to seeing a larger mirror over an entry table with, perhaps, some nearby artwork. Tracery Interiors upended our expectations with a sizable abstract painting hung above a demure but punchy console, polished off with a tiny tabletop mirror. The composition isn't cluttered, but it is surely multi-layered and exciting.

In this entryway, stone tiles run right down the middle of the hall with wood on either side, almost like a carpet. I love the tone-on-tone look of the dark espresso color for both materials.

4. Give things plenty of space. In this entryway, the neutral walls and ample space allow the spare collection of a beautifully crafted table, simple bowl and intricate sculpture to be fully appreciated. Each piece has some breathing room.

This room feels ancient to me. The colors and the mix of materials are very earthy and warm. Again, every surface is covered for total immersion in texture.

4. Use furniture placement. Placement of your art is important, but so is the placement of your other furnishings around the art. This painting would have looked great on the wall all by itself. But the wavy bench underlines the painting and gives it emphasis, the same as underlining a word in a sentence.
