Inspired by client care. Gina Palombo Dinkel, a real estate broker, and Darren Dinkel, a general contractor, brought their individual expertise into a shared vision. “Our founders wanted to help create a simple experience for their clients,” Cristina Palombo says. “We’re licensed general contractors and also have a design space where clients can come in, choose their materials, get help laying out their space and have a guide through the entire process.”
Driven by communication. With D&G Construction, you’re never left to wonder “what comes next?” on your remodeling project. “We have a very catered process starting from the free in-home consultation, where we listen to ideas and assess the building’s restrictions,” Palombo says. “Next, our designers draw out the space, share a 3D rendering and hear feedback. After that, you come in and select materials.” Throughout the surprise-free process, D&G uses online software to consistently keep its clients informed, whether the team is coming to drop off lumber or is ready to begin tiling the floor.

1. Have Happy Hour at Home
The best part about an unfinished basement is that it’s the perfect blank slate to build on. This Denver basement was transformed into a cool, industrial bar, in a style that doesn’t disrupt the home’s country chic aesthetic. Open shelving, a brick backsplash, wood accents and custom LED underlighting create the feel of an evening out, all without leaving home.
But it doesn’t stop there. With plenty of room to work with, D&G also created a theater space complete with a coffered ceiling and mood lighting, a custom wine cellar, space to shoot pool, a roomy home gym and a full bathroom.

2. Add the Ultimate Space to Entertain
A basement upgrade is also a great opportunity to address a few of your family’s lifestyle challenges — such as a love of entertaining but not enough space. For this Denver basement, the homeowners wanted to create an atmospheric venue to host family and friends. Designed in a glamorous Mediterranean style, its wet bar, pantry and airtight wine cellar make trips upstairs unnecessary.
The impeccable finishes also set the space apart. “Our team provides quality-control walkthroughs to ensure everything behind and in front of the walls is installed correctly,” Palombo says. “Our projects are built to last a lifetime, not just a few years.”

3. Create a Room to Play All Day
For some homeowners, what they really need is room for their kids to roam and play (and make a mess) away from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen or living room. At this contemporary basement in Denver, the homeowners let their imaginations run wild to create a basement jungle gym. The dedicated play space includes a zipline, a climbing wall and hideaways to climb through. For the parents and kids alike, a cozy home theater has room to stretch out and relax.
“Anything you can dream up we can implement,” Palombo says. “The best part about what we do is that we get to work with our clients on the most unique spaces.”
