Here we used functional recessed lighting in the ceiling and under the cabinets. The sconces on the sides of the hood are more of a design element, while the LED cove lighting that lines the ceiling beams set a softer tone at night.

Tip #2: White LED lighting, sconces next to hood. Recessed highhats on ceiling. The ceiling in the middle drops down and is accented by LED cove light that goes around it. Different lighting for different times of day. It also highlights different areas. The recessed highhats are use functional lighting to light up the kitchen so you can work. The LED cove lighting (ambient light at side of beam) is more of an accent lighting. The sconces to the sides of the hood are design element. Under-cabinet lighting is another functional lighting to light up countertops.
