QuarterLab Design BuildWe like drawing inspiration from mid century queues. Examples of this can be seen in the low pitched roof lines and tapered brick. We also like to think you can get some big looks while still being frugal. While going for a tongue and groove cedar look, we opted to use cedar fence pickets to give us and inexpensive but decadent feel to our roof eaves.

Custom Design & ConstructionOur homeowners approached us for design help shortly after purchasing a fixer upper. They wanted to redesign the home into an open concept plan. Their goal was something that would serve multiple functions: allow them to entertain small groups while accommodating their two small children not only now but into the future as they grow up and have social lives of their own. They wanted the kitchen opened up to the living room to create a Great Room. The living room was also in need of an update including the bulky, existing brick fireplace. They were interested in an aesthetic that would have a mid-century flair with a modern layout. We added built-in cabinetry on either side of the fireplace mimicking the wood and stain color true to the era. The adjacent Family Room, needed minor updates to carry the mid-century flavor throughout.
Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignWith a limited budget, we were able to transform and update this front garden with a new modern pathway, a small patio, and a variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants. The black mulch completes this modern landscape design transformation. Dianella tasmanica 'Variegata', Asparagus densiflorus 'Meyers' - Fox tail Fern, and Daphne odora 'Marginata' are great companions in partly shaded areas. © Eileen Kelly, Dig Your Garden Landscape Design

Nystrom DesignBalancing modern architectural elements with traditional Edwardian features was a key component of the complete renovation of this San Francisco residence. All new finishes were selected to brighten and enliven the spaces, and the home was filled with a mix of furnishings that convey a modern twist on traditional elements. The re-imagined layout of the home supports activities that range from a cozy family game night to al fresco entertaining.

JVC ArchitectsStained concrete floors were replaced with warm acacia wood, beige walls were refreshed with white paint and a robins egg blue accent wall. The teal sofa, green rug, and blue/green/yellow coffee table pull the color scheme together. The overall effect is a lighter, brighter, more cheerful space.

Kimberly Demmy DesignMid Century Modern Renovation - nestled in the heart of Arapahoe Acres. This home was purchased as a foreclosure and needed a complete renovation. To complete the renovation - new floors, walls, ceiling, windows, doors, electrical, plumbing and heating system were redone or replaced. The kitchen and bathroom also underwent a complete renovation - as well as the home exterior and landscaping. Many of the original details of the home had not been preserved so Kimberly Demmy Design worked to restore what was intact and carefully selected other details that would honor the mid century roots of the home.
