Okay, LAST question regarding cabinet pulls....

Pulls on drawers that open straight, knobs on anything that opens on an angle so your fingers naturally rotate while you open it (great to be a primate, eh?). The knobs should have a "pin" that keeps it from rotating around the screw.

JandB Kitchen Designs

Hi, A quick note about our experience: Brigitte and I consistently design between 70-90 kitchens/year (for over 34 years) and have designed thousands of kitchens.....We also design full structural including below-grade foundation plans.....We have 2 Chicagoland locations and a Michigan location which cover the Wisconsin to Indiana borders, N.W. Indiana and S.W. Michigan.....Anyway, We primarily use Amerock, Berenson and Top Knobs.....They seem to give our clients enough selections to find something they really like and their pricing is in line.....If you want to see some real interesting hardware (and beautiful castings) take a look at Notting Hill in Delavan WI.....Not necessarily your style but fun to look at.....One last thing, like Cynthia mentioned, don't use the first handle you pictured.....We refer to it as "the old pocket ripper"!.....Hope this helps a bit.....John & Brigitte

I think black, iron, oil rubbed bronze, pewter, nickel or chrome would be best color wise. All are great with natural cherry and should work well with the rest of what you described. I'd avoid brass shades with your natural cherry. I went with dark pulls (probably iron?) on my natural cherry cabinets.

The secret to mixing prints is to keep them different scales. So, a small tight print can work with a larger more dramatic print. Keep at least one color in both pillows. Make sure the rug has a large or very subtle pattern too.

My rule of thumb is that pulls look best when they are about 1/3 the width of the drawer. On your island, use either 7" or 8" pulls on the 21" & 24" drawers and use 10" on the pot drawers and the pull-down drawer under the sink. Knobs on the doors is a good choice for a traditional or transitional kitchen. If you are going more contemporary, then you could use pulls on the doors as well. As far as inches vs mm, you can divide mm by 25.4 to get inches. Or use a conversion chart available on web. Or just call Amerock and ask them. Hope this helps.

Just go on Top Knobs.com. A ten inch SINGLE can be had in many styles in MULTIPLE sizes. A drawer is always best with a single pull.

Well, big art:) Check out art.com or greatbigcanvas.com and search for some art that has the right colors and appeals to you. You can order most art either as a canvas, framed, or just the print and have it framed at somewhere like Michaels. I think a canvas is typically more cost effective and won't have glass glare issues. Post your favorites and we'd be happy to vote:) Size/scale will be very important just like with the lamp and clock. Before you choose a size, please put some tape on the wall at least at where the corners will be so you can be sure you'll get the right scale for the wall.

[houzz=] [houzz=] [houzz=] [houzz=] The last two are a little smaller, but I think the birds are sweet! They might be cute on your end table! That was just a quick look on overstock. Again, if the price isn't right - keep looking! I have this huge wall clock that I bought at Walmart. It's perfect on a narrow wall in my sunroom, and everyone always loves it! I think it cost $25 or $30!

I didn't go back to read all the comments, so this may have already been suggested, but I've ordered art from greatbigcanvas.com twice now and been pleased. They always have coupon codes on their main screen and the amount of the discount changes every few days. I wait to order until it hits 45-50% off, which happens every few weeks. You could choose any piece (maybe one that has a horizontal rectangular shape) and then chose your size from several choices. It might be worth browsing their thousands of choices.

I'm sorry, Susan, but your console table is too tall. The mirror does not have to be 7" above the table if the space between is filled. You will notice in my rendering, the potted orchid and candlesticks perform that function. Your tall table unbalances the wall. And charmar, you can have drawers below the top of the console, or a shelf, or you could even have a cabinet instead of a console there. In any case, I would keep it to about the height of the windowsills.

If your brother-in-law is making the table, you can make it as tall as you need. I would measure floor to window sill and from drape edge to drape edge. Grovers line for table height with window sill is nice. Keep in mind the center of mirror should be at eye level when standing and the bottom of mirror should be 5-7" above surface. If you make it taller have him make another wood piece under the surface same height as sill (or another shelf) and it will keep it balanced. Like this one.

Be sure and measure for a print behind the sofa. It should cover wall area behind sofa at least 2/3-3/4 of the back length of the sofa. And you should hang so the bottom of picture is 5-7" above the back. Unless, of course, you have a huge print like grover suggested then hang it according to her photo. When standing, you want the center of the art to be at eye level.

if you cook and bake on a regular basis...add all your cookbooks into the corner with some cute bookends that go with your French Country look...or buy a small wood crate and use it to hold them...I think I had mentioned this before but you could also add a black iron hook to the side of your cabinet by the sink to hold a kitchen towel for drying hands...it would add color and dimension to the area..maybe you could find a sheep or rooster head-in black iron...utensil holder..with wood cutting board behind it..just think of the items you use everyday....hope this helps:) I also love these big black iron cookbook stands..would like nice in the corner too!

Consider conversational distances. No matter how big your living room, there’s a limit to how large a seating group can be and still make sense for intimate conversation and cozy gatherings. A good distance between seats to facilitate conversation is about 8 feet, meaning if you have several sofas or a sofa and side chairs, the seating area should have a diameter of 8 feet, or 4 feet out from the center.

I think that back-splashes and counter tops should contrast with the wood color. So since wood is usually a warn color , then the tiles should be cool like green or blue. If the wood is dark, I would go light on the tile and counter top. If the wood is light, then I would go darker. I think that contrast is important. #FayjonesDayTile
